DECOR FOR AN ATTRACTIVE SHOW-FLAT ON A LOW BUDGET (II)

The choice of curtains was a unique one, because these could be switched around for day or night. The day curtains help to “soften” the look of the tall windows while the night curtains can be drawn to one side with tie-backs or fully closed for more intimacy. Flexibility also shows in the choice of sideboards which can be rearranged according to the layout of the main furniture, such as suttees and the dining table.
The dining set, a four-seater, can be stretched to accommodate six to eight persons. But even as a four-seater it is flexible in the sense that it can be a cross-layout, with one chair at each end of the table.
The lighting was also chosen with flexibility in mind – all contrived to impress any prospective buyer. In the case of the dining area, the light point is looped towards the desired spot. The living room has track-lights and an up-light for indirect or concentrated lighting effects.
The color scheme is a continuation of the flexibility theme – pastel brown and beige – so that the accessories may vary from black, dark, brown, gold, pink or even green plants. Blue shades can also be added since blue is prominent in the stripes of the curtains and throw cushions as well as on the “island” rug in the living room.
